| | Development of the Dynamic Infrastructures strategy |
The beginnings |
The Dynamic Infrastructures concept has evolved through delivering hundreds of infrastructure solutions to our customers and managing their increasingly complex infrastructures. Throughout this process we have listened carefully to our customers and closely observed their changing needs.
As IT becomes more and more integral to business operations, we have noticed many customers are not only asking us to put the right IT infrastructure in place and support them in managing that infrastructure, but also to give them greater control over operations and greater transparency of costs.
This is where Dynamic Infrastructures comes in. From single products to solution contracts to pay-per-use models, our goal is to provide our customers with the most convenient, reliable and productive IT infrastructure possible, which is also adaptable to their current needs and prepared for future change.
Other challenges facing our customers are:- How to integrate the value chain with new suppliers, partners and customers.
- How business processes and applications can respond more quickly to changing business conditions.
- How the workforce can achieve more without growing larger.
- How to manage the constantly changing roles and responsibilities of employees.
Dr. Joseph Reger, Chief Technology Officer at Fujitsu, sums up the situation: “Our customers want to be able to use their current IT resources in a more flexible and adaptable way in order to capitalize on the investments that they have already made. This is why we are offering Dynamic Infrastructures: the key is its flexibility. Using our expertise and experience with our products and services and by building and managing the combination of these offerings, we can help customers decide which IT infrastructure complexity and delivery model is best for them.”

Current status |
Dynamic Infrastructures support the dynamic business of our customers through the unique combination of products, solutions, services, and managed infrastructures – as well as through the further extension of our portfolio to meet the growing trend towards Infrastructure as a Service.
The four main categories of our Dynamic Infrastructures portfolio reflect the development of our company’s core competencies over time:- Industry leading Infrastructure Products and Services – designed for virtualized and automated environments.
- Pre-configured Infrastructure Solutions – benefiting from our know-how and experience from hundreds of customer installations.
- Managed Infrastructure – where only sections, or the whole IT infrastructure, can be out-tasked, yet the customer always stays in control.
- Infrastructure as a Service – sharing infrastructure solutions with others, so you only use IT resources when you need them and only pay for what you use.
Drawing from this portfolio, Dynamic Infrastructures can be tailored to fit the strategy and priorities of each individual customer and their business priorities. Companies can now concentrate on their core business, whilst enjoying the benefits of efficiency and reduced financial risk of capital investment.
Dieter Herzog, Executive Vice President, Technology Solutions Portfolio, adds: “Customers can redefine to what depth they consider information technology as their core competence and to what level they want to involve their strategic partners in their IT. As a result, new delivery models, such as Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) are very attractive to many customers and constitute an important development in the direction of the whole IT infrastructure.” |
A look into the future |
The objectives we have set ourselves as a company are best expressed by our corporate vision “Understanding you better – serving you best.” This is demonstrated in our commitment to listen to customer concerns, to analyze their needs, and to supply them with the best solution. We take this responsibility very seriously, attaching great importance to delivering real value to our customers and optimizing the quality of our products, solutions and services.
One example in the near future will be a redefinition of the desktop PC – but not in terms of design or components. Thanks to new trends in infrastructure, hardware and software, an end-user desktop PC may also be implemented “as a Service”. Under the new model, individual and customized PCs are delivered directly to any user, anywhere in the world, as a modern online service that is accessible via web browser.
Enterprises can still control everything that is inside these virtual machines: the software programs, security policies, software licensing and group profiles. Servers, storage, network, as well as required virtualization and management systems are taken care of and administrated in the enterprise center or by the service provider.
All in all, Dynamic Infrastructures represent a new breakthrough, a clear departure from existing paradigms and the launch of new generation of IT architectures – that will give IT more flexibility, efficiency and reliability through virtualization of resources and automation of processes.
Dynamic Infrastructures give IT managers a much greater degree of flexibility to adapt to changing business demands. Resources are automatically assigned to applications and services as needed. New servers can be easily added to the server pool, for example, if there is an overall increase in demand for bandwidth. Components and modules are seamlessly integrated to ensure efficient operations. Applications can be scaled up and out "on demand". It’s all about doing more with less – more efficiency and more flexibility with fewer costs.
The idea behind Dynamic Infrastructures may be visionary, but our implementation strategy is very concrete: virtualization, automation and integration. With all of these elements contributing to the common goal of an optimized IT infrastructure, already now we are providing our customers with significantly improved business efficiency, agility and continuity.
