In 2008, we completed our second large-scale mobility research project, interviewing over 1,200 IT decision-makers and influencers across EMEA. The results are quite striking when compared with the findings of our 2005 survey, conducted among VNU’s Global Tech Forum web panel of IT decision-makers. In short, businesses today find themselves in a very different place.
- Getting closer to customers and being more responsive quoted as key benefits (compared with productivity in 2005)
- Higher flexibility and wireless communication are also listed as top-ranking benefits
- 85% of organizations now use mobile devices (71% in 2005)
- More employees within those organization use mobile devices
- Greater differentiation between the needs of first-time and replacement buyers
- Security still cited as an important concern of a mobile project
- More organizations now have a mobile computing strategy in-house
