| | InfiniBand Switch 40Gb 18/18 Connection Blade | |
|
| The InfiniBand switch 40Gb 18/18 is a 36-port switch designed for use in the PRIMERGY BX900 S1. The Connection Blade is an ideal platform for applications requiring a high performance and bandwidth combined with low latency. The InfiniBand switch requires two horizontal slots on the back of the BX900 blade server and up to three of the switches can be used one blade chassis. | |
| The switch supports Quad Data Rate (QDR x4) InfiniBand and thus offers a bandwidth of up to 40Gb/s per port. With the non-blacking architecture the switch supports adaptive routing as well as static routing to reduce or eliminate congestion situations. Adaptive routing dynamically and automatically re-routes traffic to alleviate congested ports. Static routing, meanwhile, has been shown to produce superior results in networks where traffic patterns are more predictable. |

Ethernet Switch/IBP 1Gb 36/12 Connection Blade
|
The PRIMERGY Ethernet Switch/IBP 36/12 is an integrated one Gb Connection Blade for use in the PRIMERGY BX900 chassis. It can be installed in each of the 8 Fabric slots and offers 36x 1Gb down-link port to the midplane for the connection to the Server Blades.
| |
The module comes with 12x 1-Gb up-link port; Layer 2+ functions are supported. The Intelligent Blade Panel function combines the switch advantage of cable and port consolidation with the pass-thru advantages of working fully (VLAN) transparent and lacking of any protocol compatibility issues. Server Blade LAN ports may be grouped together with one or more external ports into independent named port groups. Using the so-called Management VLAN grouping feature, a separate VLAN-based management access to each Server Blade may be assigned.

| | | |
| Feature | Benefit |
| Integrated Switch and Intelligent Blade Panel for PRIMERGY BX900 Blade Server | Variable use in each of the 8 connection bays at the rear side of a system unit |
| Unites Switch as well as IBP functionality | Effortless switching between the pure Switch and the IBP functionality allows flexible use depending to demands |
| 12 x 1Gb (RJ45) up-link port | High scalability through large number of external connections |
| Switch mode provides extensive functionality | Allows effective integration in existing networks |
| When used in IBP mode: Uplink Sets, Port Grouping, Standard Port Group, VLAN Port Group, Service LAN Group, Service VLAN Group | IBP mode avoids protocol compatibility issues (e.g. Cisco compatibility) and offers a large number of add-on functions compared to standard switch mode |

Ethernet Switch/IBP 1Gb 36/8+2 Connection Blade
|
The PRIMERGY Ethernet Switch/IBP 36/8+2 is an integrated 1Gb Connection Bladeor use in the PRIMERGY BX900 chassis. It can be installed in each of the 8 Fabric slots and offers 36x 1Gb down-link ports to the midplane for the connection to the Server Blades. The module comes with 8x 1 Gb plus 2 x 10 Gb up-link ports; Layer 2+ functions are supported.
This Connection Blade is prepared for easy creation of large homogeneous IO domains by combining (stacking) up to 8 modules within one or more BX900 system units. |

Fibre Channel Switch 8 Gb 18/8 (Brocade 5450) Connection Blade
|
| Blade Servers and Fibre Channel SANs build an ideal infrastructure for maximizing the benefits of consolidation and server virtualization. Fujitsu and Brocade combine the highest density Blade Server and SAN switch platforms to deliver exceptional performance, reliability and flexibility. | |
All Brocade switches leverage technology used in the Brocade DCX Backbone to extend end-to-end performance, Quality of Service (QOS), and availability management to PRIMERGY BX Blade Servers. These advanced fabric services simplify SAN management and automate administrative tasks to optimize performance and availability. With fewer SAN components and no additional fans or power supplies, the Brocade 5450 reduces SAN complexity and eliminates many common hardware failures. Advanced SAN management, redundant I/O paths, and hot-pluggable design ensure the highest availability and resiliency for PRIMERGY BX Blade Servers. Up to 18 internal Server Blade connections are consolidated into max. 8 shared SAN ports, greatly reducing the number of cables, SFPs, and core fabric ports. Half the number of ports and Inter-Switch Links (ISLs) are required for current workloads with plenty of headroom for growth and expansion. The services and solutions pages are ‚family-related‘ so the same for both the BX900 and the BX600. However on the solutions page we should still add a small text about ServerView Resource Coordinator (text to be provided by Holger) and in the right navigation a link to their webpage. |
