A maximum of four internal disk drives greatly extends the maximum amount of disk storage of a Server Blade. One Storage Blade occupies a Blade slot within the PRIMERGY BX900 S1 system unit; it is positioned either on the left or right to an adjacent BX92x Server Blade, or between the two. The 1x 4 or 2x 2 disk drives of one SX940 S1 are driven by 1 or 2 integrated, highly functional SAS/RAID controllers with 512 Mbyte cache and BBU. Each controller provides RAID levels 0, 1, 5 and 6. The connection to each Server Blade is realized via a midplane link to the high performing PCIe x4 interfaces of each Server Blade’s system board. |
