Fujitsu Siemens Computers Outgrew the Market for Fourth
Quarter 2003*
Strongest growth in the mobile sector with 87.5 percent
Overall growth of 27.3 percent*
Munich / Germany, January 22, 2004 —Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT company,
announced today that it outgrew the EMEA (Europe, Middle East &
Africa) market in all categories: desktop, mobile, IA server and
the overall composite PC market according to preliminary market
numbers released by analyst research firm IDC. In the fourth
quarter 2003 Fujitsu Siemens Computers stated 27,3 percent growth
(market: 19,7 percent growth) and strengthened its number 3
position with 8 percent market share.
Across EMEA, Fujitsu Siemens Computers outperformed the
overall PC market in the following countries/regions: Austria,
Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Italy, Norway, Sweden, UK, Czech
Republic, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, Egypt, Saudi Arabia and South
Africa.
“The areas strategic to our business, mobility and
business critical computing continue to show strong growth. In
mobility, we experienced high double and triple-digit growth rates
throughout most countries, and in business critical computing, IA
servers grew 26 percent” said Adrian v. Hammerstein,
President and CEO. “The market continues to show signs of a
recovery, and we are confident that with our strong offering, we
will continue to outperform our key competitors as we did this past
quarter.”
In Germany, Fujitsu Siemens Computers remained number one
with 18.4 percent market share for the overall PC market.
Additionally, the company maintained its first position in the
desktop market, outperformed the mobile PC (96 percent) and the IA
server markets (42.6 percent) in Germany year on year.
