STYLISTIC ST5010 improved for mobile users
The new Fujitsu Siemens Computers tablet PC with Intel®
Centrino™ mobile technology, light weight and longlife
battery
Munich / Palma de Mallorca, January 22, 2004 —Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European Computing
Company with over twelve years experience in the development,
manufacturing and marketing of tablet PCs and solutions, presented
its latest tablet PC at a Mobility Day in Palma de Mallorca: the
STYLISTIC ST5010 series. The new model has a 12.1-inch display and
weighs only 1.54 kg. For network and internet connectivity, the
STYLISTIC ST5010 is equipped with Intel® Centrino™
mobile technology with integrated wireless LAN, supporting 54
Mbit/s, an integrated modem and wired LAN data exchange via the new
Gigabit LAN. Especially attractive for mobile use is a larger
battery, which allows users to be underway using the tablet up to
eight hours: an entire work day. The STYLISTIC ST5010 tablet PC, is
available for prices starting at €2,700 *.
Just like its predecessors the new slate models use a special
stylus pen, which allows the users to take notes and have their
handwriting transferred into typewritten text.
Its numerous accessories, including external drives and a
docking unit, ensure flexible and ergonomic operation. A smartcard
reader and security buttons with special access codes increase
security by obstructing unauthorized access to sensitive data. And
the stable magnesium housing protects the system and data against
physical damage in day-to-day use.
The STYLISTIC ST5010 series from Fujitsu Siemens Computers is
especially tailored to customers in vertical markets, such as
health care, insurance, sales, inventory management and market
research. These vertical markets require a light device with a long
battery life, basically a clipboard replacement which can be used
wherever people walk or stand. Typical example is hospitals, where
STYLISTICs are used by doctors and nurses to edit patient data
onsite at the patient’s bed. After the visit the device can
be integrated in a docking station and doctors can use it as normal
PC with keyboard and peripherals. At the Son Llàtzer Hospital
in Palma de Mallorca doctors and nurses use STYLISTIC Tablet PCs to
have direct access to patent information via Wireless LAN anywhere
in the hospital.
“The tablet market has shown resilience in vertical
market segments,” says Chris Jones, Senior Analyst at
Canalys. “What is key in this market is the ability not only
to provide hardware, but the solutions necessary to meet the
customer’s specific needs. Fujitsu Siemens Computers has
twelve years experience in product usability development and
solution building and has as proof point shown good growth figures
in that area e.g. in Q4 2003. The company is now further
reinforcing their credibility as a leading supplier of mobile
products and mobility solutions.”
“With the new STYLISTIC series and the recently
launched LIFEBOOK T models, we are offering our customers an
exclusive range of state-of-the-art tablet PCs,” explained
Peter Eßer, Executive Vice President of Volume Products and
Supply Operations at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “Due to our
extensive experience in that area we are in a permanent feedback
process with our customers and therefore know best where to improve
in developing new products. The comprehensive range of available
accessories and a growing number of offerings from ISVs
(Independent Software Vendors) opens up numerous application
scenarios for our customers.”
