A new look for Fujitsu Siemens Computers
at CeBIT 2004
Solution scenarios and real-life examples highlight
commitment to Responsibility in the Information Age
Munich/Germany, February 09, 2004 —Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT company,
will reveal an entirely new look at CeBIT 2004 in March. This year,
at its traditional “home” in Hall 1 (stand 5e2),
Fujitsu Siemens Computers will emphasize complete solutions for
enterprise customers, from infrastructure to networked end devices.
The partner stand situated directly opposite (4h4), meanwhile, will
focus primarily on small and mid-sized companies (SMEs) and private
customers. The company’s theme at this year's exhibition
is “Responsibility in the Information Age”.
“Customers want to see solutions that help them address
their every day business needs – we will present this at
CeBIT,“ commented Barbara Schädler, Vice President
Marketing & Communications at Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
“Solutions are the concept of our redesigned stand centered
on our brand promise ‘We make sure’.”
The scenarios on display will highlight Fujitsu Siemens
Computers as a provider of complete infrastructure solutions that
embrace its two strategic themes: Mobility and Business Critical
Computing (BCC). These solutions, based on client, server, storage
and middleware products from the IT company and its partners,
encompass all areas of IT infrastructure, from mobile access to the
data and applications all the way through to the data center.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers makes sure all these building blocks work
together seamlessly.
Higher efficiency and lower costs – Mobility and BCC
solution highlights
Among the scenarios to be featured at the main booth is the
mail server consolidation solution easyXchange in combination with
Managed Mobility. In a recent mail server consolidation project for
several thousand users Fujitsu Siemens Computers achieved a 40
percent reduction in Total Cost of Ownership with this solution.
With Managed Mobility, a complete and pre-tested solution stack is
shown which allows the easy and effective integration of mobile
devices (such as handhelds, tablet PCs and notebooks) into
corporate mail servers. The new Microsoft Exchange Server 2003,
also on display, reduces network traffic between mobile devices and
servers, greatly improving e-mail access efficiency when using low
bandwidth wireless connections.
Together with visionapp and Citrix, Fujitsu Siemens Computers
has developed solutions to deploy and run highly efficient terminal
server farms. This Thin client server-based computing scenario will
also be on display at CeBIT, revealing how to significantly lower
operating costs with easily scalable Intel-based PRIMERGY blade
servers. Once the terminal server infrastructure exists, client
infrastructure operating costs can be further reduced using FUTRO
thin client devices. This scenario also brings additional security
advantages by eliminating productivity losses caused by damaged
hard disks.
Also presented is the storage consolidation solution
CentricStor, which improves backup processes significantly, as well
as a real-life customer example of Mainframe integration and
Application Mobility from the data center at DFB Medien, a
subsidiary of the German Soccer Association (DFB, or Deutscher
Fußball Bund).
The company will also display its already renowned and
successful FlexFrameTM for mySAP Business SuiteTM together with
mySAP Mobile Business. Catering to large enterprises as well as
SMEs, it allows mobile access to SAP business applications that can
be established online, offline or online-on-demand. The main mobile
SAP scenarios focus on supporting staff in service and in sales.
FlexFrame replaces yesterday’s complex IT environment with a
flexible concept built around the latest PRIMERGY blade server
technology and network attached storage. The result: cost savings
up to 60 percent.
Partner booth: products and solutions for SMEs, entertainment
scenarios for everybody
Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ partner booth will feature
applications and scenarios tailored particularly to SMEs and
presented with the company’s high quality and reliable mobile
and deskbound products. Using PRIMERGY entry-level servers,
partners will display, for example, security and manageability
solutions perfectly suited to SMEs. Distributors and value added
resellers will also be on hand.
For consumers, Fujitsu Siemens Computers will offer the
opportunity to experience the new digitally networked home first
hand, with a complete range of products for private users in
true-to-life scenarios. For this purpose, three typical living
areas will be set up: a standard living room, a child's bedroom
and a student's room. Home entertainment will be on display
with an area designed specifically for game players.
