Clear performance boost from latest processor

Fujitsu Siemens Computers to add new Intel Xeon MP processors to its PRIMERGY Servers

Munich/Germany, March 10, 2004 —Fujitsu Siemens Computers is set to directly boost performance by up to 41 percent when it introduces new servers from its PRIMERGY RX600 and TX600 ranges. The latest models will be based on new Intel® Xeon™ multiprocessor technology (MP), with clock rates of up to 3 GHz, and can be equipped with as many as four processors. The doubling of third level cache to 2 or 4 MB, as well as the 400 MHz front side bus, guarantee higher performance bandwidths perfectly suited to current and future requirements. Entry-level prices are €10,000 for the TX600 with its new processor and €11,000 for the RX600 (prices include VAT in Germany).

“Intel Xeon MP processors have a long history as a reliable basis for high-end servers used in demanding company scenarios with standard Intel CPU architectures,” explained Dieter Herzog, Vice President Intel-based Servers at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “Significant performance improvements are achieved with the introduction of the new 3 GHz Xeon MP processors with 4 MB cache, especially for databases and mid-tier enterprise applications. As soon as the new processors from Intel become available, we will integrate them into our PRIMERGY servers.”

The new Intel-based PRIMERGY TX600 tower servers ensure top performance. They are designed primarily for central tasks, such as database servers, data warehouses, enterprise resource planning and directory or cache services. The PRIMERGY RX600 rack-optimized servers are ideal as reliable application servers as well as a high-performance database servers.
