Fujitsu Siemens Computers Outperforms the European IT Market

Poised for profitable Growth in Fiscal Year 2004

Hanover/Germany, March 18, 2004 —At CeBIT 2004 in Hanover, Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT company, announced a preview of its financial results. CEO Adrian v. Hammerstein announced that the company expects to deliver a profit before tax of €57 million (forecast) for the 2003/2004 fiscal year running from April 2003 to March 2004, a 600-plus percent increase over the previous fiscal year. Revenue is forecasted to be nearly flat at €5,320 million (forecast), compared to €5,337 million in the previous year.

For the full fiscal year, the company expects to record unit volume growth of 19 percent. On the top line, the unit growth is offset by the impact of the declining US dollar. Relative gross margin remains almost stable, despite intense competitive pressure in the market. Additionally, the company expects to achieve a four percent decrease in operating expenses.

In the second half of the fiscal year, the company expects to record a revenue increase of six percent on the basis of a unit volume growth of 25 percent, an operating expense reduction of three percent and profit before tax of €46 million (forecast).

“This has been a successful year for our company, as we have substantially strengthened our profitability and have outperformed the market. These were our primary objectives, and we delivered them,” said Adrian v. Hammerstein, CEO of Fujitsu Siemens Computers.

Outlook: Continued performance ahead of market
For the upcoming fiscal year, Fujitsu Siemens Computers is aiming for 5 percent revenue growth (at current exchange rates) and to continue to outgrow the market by at least 5 percent. The company’s primary growth areas are defined as: Mobiles, servers, and supporting services.

Building resources to help customers innovate
Fujitsu Siemens Computers will continue its focus on two key strategic areas: Mobility and Business Critical Computing (BCC).

“As companies begin to invest into information technology again, they are looking for solutions that enable them to reduce their total IT cost, and at the same time increase flexibility and free up resources for innovation,” emphasized Adrian v. Hammerstein.

To help customers achieve their goals, Fujitsu Siemens Computers will invest into the SAP related business, where the company intends to grow by 60 percent, and into the business with small and medium enterprises to address the mid-market and support channel partners with lead-generation.

The Digital Home becomes reality
Fujitsu Siemens Computers is showcasing the digitally networked home with products and solutions that allow users to exchange digital media such as photos, music and video recordings. The ACTIVY Media Center with TV-optimized online- and video on demand Services from T-Online’s Vision Service, is the first member of a new class of Internet-capable consumer electronics devices which can be connected using a network. To enable the networked digital home, the company has also announced the MYRICA family of LCD TVs, as well as various wireless network components.
