SAP experts rely on FlexFrame for mySAP Business Suite
SAP solution from Fujitsu Siemens Computers makes headway,
winning over systems houses and end customers
Munich/Germany, April 29, 2004 —It has now been more than two years since Fujitsu Siemens
Computers and SAP came together to contemplate the next generation
of SAP environments. The challenge was clear: reduce complexity and
increase flexibility. And the result: the birth of SAP Adaptive
Computing and FlexFrameTM for mySAPTM Business Suite from Fujitsu
Siemens Computers.
FlexFrame is the first achievement of this Adaptive Computing
infrastructure – part of the SAP’s NetWeaver platform
– and provides full-scale support for the NetWeaver
initiative. The innovative SAP solution, meanwhile, has not only
proven its value to customers time and time again, but has also
become a standard at many systems houses.
One of the most recent new customers is Plaut AG, who has
extensive experience in understanding SAP solutions as they
themselves are a SAP systems house. In February 2004, they chose to
implement the FlexFrame solution from Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
SAP IT experts at Plaut examined the FlexFrame concept in
great detail and were quick to recognize its potential benefits for
the Plaut data center. Plaut is planning to set up 15 independent
SAP systems based on the Linux open source operating system. Here,
the advantages of FlexFrame are obvious: all programs and data
reside on a common NetApp filer and the individual blade servers
can work problem-free with the various mySAP components. FlexFrame
also allows quick integration of additional SAP modules or
additional users. The centralized data storage on the
FlexFrame’s integrated NetApp filer, with its net capacity of
about 1 terabyte, also offers Plaut major advantages over
traditional SAP systems. The centralization makes it easier to both
manage the data as well as store the necessary data which is not
possible with traditional SAP systems.
Plaut’s goal is to use the innovative FlexFrame
solution to gain further new SAP customers in the upper mid-tier
market segment. In addition to operating its own 15 separate SAP
systems, Plaut is also considering running additional customer
installations on the FlexFrame system. This can be done without
impairing operation on any of the other SAP systems.
Additionally, the Germany-based systems house NYX3 in Munich,
a service provider for Fujitsu Siemens Computers, has focused
strongly on FlexFrame in recent months, acquiring 16 new customer
projects. NYX3 has for example projects in the beverage and
bottling industry, farming industry and service and support for the
public sector to include non-profit organizations.
