Mid-market campaign makes it easier to buy from Fujitsu Siemens Computers

Successful SME focus resulted in strong market share gains

Munich/Germany, June 09, 2004 —Fujitsu Siemens Computers is launching a major marketing campaign in mid-June aimed at the mid-market. The leading European IT company’s main target is to achieve more businesses with 500 to 1,000 employees. This broad campaign will focus on lead generation through telemarketing and extensive support of co-selling with the company’s channel partners.

This marks a new stage in Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ successful strategic focus on the SME segment. The company was able to boost EMEA (Europe, Middle East & Africa) revenue in the first quarter of 2004 by 24 percent year-on-year, considerably outpacing market growth of 16 percent, according to IDC*. This is the 10th quarter in a row with strong growth for Fujitsu Siemens Computers. The company holds 11 percent of the SME market, placing it at rank 3 in the EMEA SME market.

Research indicates that mid-market customers have different business needs than Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) or Large Enterprises. They prefer to work with local IT partners to develop complete solutions which suit their size and address their unique business needs.

Starting in key regions Germany, UK, France and Italy, the campaign will concentrate on decision makers in mid-market companies. The launch is complemented by an advertisement campaign, under way since beginning of April, highlighting the LIFEBOOK range of notebooks, SCENIC professional PCs and entry-level Intel-based PRIMERGY servers. The direct marketing campaign is not only designed to stimulate interest in these product lines among mid-market companies, but also help address their local needs for solutions that can be fully implemented by local resellers.

“With our new mid-market campaign, we are expanding our successful strategic focus on the SME segment to include the mid-market,” explained Bernd Bischoff, Executive Vice President Sales, Marketing & Customer Service. “Due to our highly effective channel infrastructure, we managed to achieve double digit growth in the SME segment last year and have established Fujitsu Siemens Computers as one of the top vendors for this customer segment. With this initiative based on our broad channel commitment we intend to bring our channel business to the next level and further extend our market position.”
