Fujitsu Siemens Computers Meets Customers’ IT Needs and
Shows Continued Growth
Recent Company Research Provides Reasons for Client
Growth
Munich/Germany, July 19, 2004 —Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT provider,
today announced that the latest preliminary IDC PC market figures
in terms of unit shipments again show the company outperforming the
market place (Total PC and x86 servers). With year-on-year growth
of 42.5%, more than double the industry for the Europe, Middle East
and Africa (EMEA) market, Fujitsu Siemens Computers is confident it
is capable of achieving further success, because it has been
listening to its customers’ needs. In a survey commissioned
earlier this year, customers confirmed that corporate refresh and
mobility were two priorities in the coming year and consequently
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has endeavoured to deliver products which
meet these challenges.
The results speak for themselves. The IDC figures for EMEA
for the second quarter of 2004 (Q2CY04) show that overall shipments
of Desktop PC hardware in the EMEA PC market outgrew the same
period for 2003 by 16.7 %, whereas Fujitsu Siemens Computers grew
at 25.2%. The company continues to outperform in the notebook area
with the strongest growth in the industry reaching 100% growth
across the EMEA region year on year in comparison to a market
growth of 29.3%.
“We are delighted with the fact that we have
outperformed the market, particularly in the PC and mobile
space” said Bernd Bischoff, CEO of Fujitsu Siemens Computers.
“The results confirm that we are providing customers with the
products they want, helping them to successfully complete their IT
projects, and adding value to their business.”
The survey, conducted on behalf of Fujitsu Siemens Computers
by KRC Research, confirms that customers want technology which
solves their business needs and develops an IT infrastructure which
responds to their ever-changing business approach. Fujitsu Siemens
Computers takes this approach in the development and sales of its
products. For example, in the mobility space the KRC survey showed
that adding mobile access was the second most important priority
for IT budget spending in 2004, but significantly less respondents
were focused on adding wireless connectivity. Consequently, Fujitsu
Siemens Computers offers a range of products which provide the
appropriate level of mobility for its customers, depending on their
needs at home or at work.
Over the course of the quarter, Fujitsu Siemens Computers
continued to add products that make a difference for customers to
their product line. For customers like banks, insurance and
governments who are highly concerned with data security, Fujitsu
Siemens Computers extended its range of thin client offerings with
the new FUTRO S series which is energy efficient, virtually
noise-free and takes up no more desk space than a medium-sized book
(24.6 x 4.8 x 17.7 cm).
To address the needs of corporate desktop users, Fujitsu
Siemens Computers announced in June new SCENIC PCs with latest
Intel 915G Express chipset. The new systems feature integrated
Intel 900 GMA graphics, making them ideal for graphic applications
in professional environments.
Also in June, Fujitsu Siemens Computers has presented the
LIFEBOOK P Series, the world’s lightest fully equipped
notebook. Ideal for the traveling executive, and particularly
women, the LIFEBOOK P weighs only 1.3 kg and, with dimensions of
19.9 cm x 26.1 cm, fits easily into a handbag. With Intel ®
Centrino™ Mobile Technology, it offers wireless connectivity
and can be equipped with a combo drive, a multi standard DVD burner
or an additional battery for long life on the go.
