Fujitsu Siemens Computers, Oracle and Network Appliance open
their first joint “Center of Excellence“
Optimizing the IT infrastructure at customers and partners
with grid-based solutions
Munich/Germany, October 04, 2004 —Along with Network Appliance and its strategic partner
Oracle, Fujitsu Siemens Computers today opened the “Center of
Excellence” (CoE) at the German Oracle headquarters in
Munich. The CoE will provide customers and partners with grid
computing solutions for their individual data center environments.
The center is also available for testing the latest technologies
with specific applications and optimizing them for the grid
environment. The presence of the three partners ensures that each
component is subjected to comprehensive scrutiny. Thanks to the
companies’ cooperation, customers will get optimized
solutions that integrate platform independent hardware, software,
storage and network infrastructure services from a single source.
The three partners are founding members of the Enterprise
Grid Alliance (EGA), whose objective is to make the benefits of
grid computing usable by businesses. According to a study by IDC
(Source: The Role of Grid Computing in the Coming Innovation Wave,
IDC 2004 ), the entire grid computing market is expected to grow to
about US$12 billion by 2007 from US$1 billion in 2003.
The CoE provides comprehensive consulting services for all
components of the IT infrastructure. It features real-life solution
scenarios and live demonstrations of customized solution concepts.
The center also offers the development and provision of best
practices and roadmaps as well as training services and workshops.
The opening of the CoE is another component of TRIOLETM,
Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ strategy for IT optimization with
which users can improve their business efficiency, flexibility and
continuity. TRIOLE is a part of the IT manufacturer’s
long-term focus on business-critical computing and will encompass
the complete spectrum of servers, mainframes, storage and
middleware.
The three partners have invited other companies to
participate in the center. As an early adopter, Novell has decided
to support this center and will provide specific skills and
support.
