New Fujitsu Siemens Computers AMILO notebooks combine ‘anywhere’ connectivity with the latest digital entertainment

Munich/Germany, October 05, 2004 —Fujitsu Siemens Computers today announced the availability of its latest smart multimedia mobile notebooks for the varying needs of mobile users. The three new models (AMILO A7640, AMILO M1425 and AMILO M7405) cover the full spectrum of functionality that consumers want, from integrated wireless LAN to large memory capacity, read-write DVD to wide-screen viewing with an extra sharp picture and long battery life. This enables users to experience much more freedom, flexibility and enjoyment from mobile computing.

The AMILO M1425 and AMILO M7405 are slim-line and easy to carry with a long battery life, making them ideal for users, such as frequent travelers, who need the flexibility to move around without requiring power supplies.

The AMILO M1425 is a high-end, powerful notebook with Intel® Centrino™ mobile technology and integrated wireless LAN that ensures the user is able to stay online, no matter what the circumstances. The notebook also combines a number of features, including ATI MOBILITY RADEON™ 9700 with 128 MB of external video RAM and up to 80 GB of hard disk drive storage to become a mobile entertainment system. The extra wide screen (15.4”) and the high end graphics means users benefit from outstanding imagery and sharp colors, creating a mobile cinema or gaming experience.

The AMILO M7405 offers options to users, who do not require the same level of graphical intensity and power but want longer battery life. With a Intel® Pentium® M Processor that ranges from 1.4 to 1.8 GHz and up to 64 GB shared memory, mobile users can opt for a machine, which enables users to avail of the latest connectivity technologies, including Wireless LAN. “Advances in mobile technology are rapidly changing the way we view the notebook PC, as it moves from being a mobile note taker to a much more sophisticated work aid and source of entertainment,” said Peter Eßer, Executive Vice President Volume Products and Supply Operations, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “However, at Fujitsu Siemens Computers we recognize that not every user is the same. In our new notebooks we offer our customers a range of functionality depending on how they view their notebook – simply as a work necessity or as something that can also provide entertainment and be fun to use.”

The power and performance of the AMILO A7640 is ideally suited for both the office and home entertainment. Powered by AMD Athlon™ 64 mobile technology it enables mobile workers to complete their tasks and have the opportunity to enjoy the multi-media experience. With up to 80GB of hard disk drive storage space, DVD and CD Read-Write capabilities it means users can easily store their favourite music and films, so that they can use their notebooks to relax as well as work.
