Datacenter
New PRIMERGY BX300 mono server blade achieves exceptional SAP
SD Standard Application Benchmark performance ratings
Munich/Germany, October 21, 2004 —With today’s introduction of the PRIMERGY BX300 mono
server blade, Fujitsu Siemens Computers is making outstanding
reliability, performance and connectivity available to IT managers
for a broad range of application areas. The exceptional performance
and value of the BX300 was highlighted by a recent SAP® SD
Standard Application Benchmark, making it ideal for Web servers,
terminal server farms, and particularly in the data center. The
mono server blade, designed for the BX300 blade server chassis, is
now available for prices starting at €1,690 each in Germany
(excl. VAT).
Fully equipped for large and mid-sized companies, PRIMERGY
BX300 mono server blades deliver the highest levels of server farm
performance and reliability. They enable IT managers to build a
server farm that is both cost effective and flexible enough to meet
the changing demands made of today’s IT environments.
Application areas include, FlexFrameTM for mySAPTM Business Suite
environments as well as front-end applications like Web, mail or
caching applications, as a communication server in huge server
farms, or as a terminal server.
Examples of new features include the optional load balancing
and software deployment solutions, which enhance throughput and
response times. For unrivaled flexibility, 20 Intel Pentium III
based dual server blades and the new mono Pentium M processor (1.6
or 2.0 GHz) can be deployed in the same BX300 chassis. This allows
up to 600 CPUs to be supported in one Fujitsu Siemens Computers
PRIMECENTER rack.
According to recently released IDC forecast data, unit
shipments in the EMEA 1-way server blade market are expected to
grow by 102 per cent from 2004 to 2005.*
“The PRIMERGY BX300 is one of the most compact and
competitively priced mono server blades on the market,” said
Dieter Herzog, Executive Vice President PRIMERGY servers at Fujitsu
Siemens Computers. “They are the perfect choice for
today’s data centers, where a reliable and powerful platform
with excellent connectivity is essential.”
The PRIMERGY BX300 mono server blade was included in the
results of SAP’s two-tier SD Standard Application Benchmark
for the first time recently and received exceptional performance
ratings. This achievement was largely attributable to the optimized
architecture and 2 MB second level cache of the Pentium M
processor.**
