Fujitsu Siemens Computers showcases the dynamic data center
at the Microsoft IT Forum
Future-enabled solutions for Microsoft-based IT
infrastructures
Munich/Germany, November 11, 2004 —Fujitsu Siemens Computers, a platinum sponsor of the
Microsoft IT Forum (November 16-19 in Copenhagen, Denmark) will
show attendees how they can “future-enable” their
Microsoft-based IT infrastructures in the data center. An IT
Director survey*, commissioned by Fujitsu Siemens Computers, asked
senior IT managers to rate the importance of various issues for
their IT spending. The top priority was quite clear: future-enabled
IT infrastructures. Therefore, the leading European IT provider
will demonstrate the dynamic data center, designed to enable
customers, from mid-sized to large enterprise, to better utilize
their existing servers today while enhancing business efficiency,
business agility and business continuity for tomorrow’s
environments.
To achieve this, the company will showcase the dynamic data
center in the context of the TRIOLE™ strategy for optimized
IT. Developed globally by the Fujitsu group of companies, TRIOLE
has the three key answers when it comes to being prepared for the
future. “All good things come in threes” is the old
saying and TRIOLE™ features a triple combination of
innovative technology – virtualization, automation and
integration – for servers, storage solutions and software.
For the customer in the data center, the strategy has three
objectives: increased IT efficiency, flexibility and availability.
And at the Microsoft IT Forum, Fujitsu Siemens Computers will
address three topics as key examples of TRIOLE in action:
•
Virtual servers to enhance utilization: Fujitsu Siemens
Computers will reveal how virtual machine concepts based on
Microsoft Virtual Server 2005 and VMware ESX help to decrease costs
through better server utilization. There will be a special focus on
the automated relaunch of virtual machines or Windows Servers using
Adaptive Services Control Center (ASCC™), a recently
announced Fujitsu Siemens Computers tool for supporting the
administration of automated data centers.
•
Increased productivity & enhanced compliance with
easyXchange, an Exchange Server 2003 IT mail infrastructure
solution developed by Fujitsu Siemens Computers based on its own
in-house migration and mail server consolidation from 38 to two
server sites. easyXchange encompasses migration, consolidation,
backup and archiving, and is already in operation at various
customer sites (e.g. Deutsche Messe AG).
•
Enhanced productivity through mobile access with Managed
Mobility, a complete pre-tested solution stack allowing the easy
and efficient connection of mobile devices, like the LIFEBOOK
T4010, to corporate mail servers via GSM and GPRS networks or WLAN
hotspots.
With its LIFEBOOK T4010, Fujitsu Siemens Computers has
introduced the world’s first convertible notebook with a
modular bay. With integrated wireless, 8.5 hours of battery life
and weighing less than 2 kg, the LIFEBOOK T4010 offers true
mobility. The unique screen technology allows users an extra-wide
viewing angle, and the notebook can be transformed into a tablet PC
by simply turning the display.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers is also one of the presenters at
the forum. With special presentations and a keynote speech entitled
“Best Practices: Automated Terminal Server Application
Deployment” customers can better understand the dynamic data
center approach. If you are interested in arranging an interview in
Copenhagen with Bernd Kosch, Vice President Strategic Alliances at
Fujitsu Siemens Computers, please contact

*) In April 2004, KRC Research conducted a telephone survey
of CIOs, IT managers and system managers about their perceptions of
IT projects, services and vendors. In total, 600 people were
interviewed in six European countries.
