New PRIMERGY TX300 S2 smashes Exchange Server 2003 world record

Fujitsu Siemens Computers Dual S2 models now available with new and improved 64-bit Intel Xeon processor technology

Munich/Germany, February 22, 2005 —Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT provider, today announced the new PRIMERGY TX300 S2 dual processor tower server, which has already beaten its own world record performance benchmark for Microsoft Exchange Server 2003. Using new upgraded 64-bit Intel Xeon processor that includes a beefed-up second level "L2" cache memory reservoir and has been launched by Intel last week, the TX300 S2 managed a score of 8,208 MMB3* in a February 3 test beating its December 27 test record by 9 percent. TheTX300 S2 is part of an overall high performance S2 dual processor server launch which includes the TX200 S2, RX200 S2, RX300 S2 and PRIMERGY Blade Server BX620 S2. All of these new servers will be showcased at the upcoming CeBIT and are available now. Prices for the world record breaking TX300 S2 start at €2675 (e.g. Germany, excl. VAT).

This wasn’t the only record broken by a PRIMERGY TX300 S2 with the new processors. It also achieved another top result in the SPECweb99 software benchmark, which assesses the workload of web servers. The test, developed by the Standard Performance Evaluation Corporation’s (SPEC) Open Systems Group, measures the performance of a web server with a standardized load of static and dynamic queries. A total of 9,540 SPECweb99 connections were made, or a 16 percent improvement over the existing benchmark.

Enhanced PRIMERGY Dual S2 performance
Five PRIMERGY S2 dual processor servers are certified for and available with the new 64-bit-enabled Intel Xeon EM64T processors: the TX200 S2 and TX300 S2 tower units, the space-saving RX200 S2 and RX300 S2 rack models and the PRIMERGY Blade Server BX620 S2. They deliver the versatility to run both 32-bit and 64-bit applications, protecting past IT investments while readying companies for the future. The PRIMERGY S2 range features the innovative Fujitsu Siemens Computers “cool-safe” airflow cooling concept, which boosts reliability and extends the lifespan of servers, even in high-density server racks. All PRIMERGY servers come with the complete ServerView Suite, a full range of management tools including remote functions that ease troubleshooting while reducing the costs of running business critical applications at distant sites.
