Do not disturb: the ultra-quiet CELSIUS M440

New single-processor workstation from Fujitsu Siemens Computers with improved performance and housing design

Munich/Germany, July 14, 2005 —With its new CELSIUS M440 workstation, Fujitsu Siemens Computers is launching a mid-range model which combines the latest chip technology with significantly improved ergonomic features and the leading European IT manufacturer’s Green Technology. The new chassis design of the single-processor CELSIUS M440 workstation (with Intel i955X chipset) reduces operating noise by nearly 50 percent to only 25 dB. It can now be ordered for prices starting at €1,379 (e.g. in Germany, incl. VAT).

Surveys carried out by Fujitsu Siemens Computers revealed that having a quieter workstation is a top customer priority. Always eager to fulfill its customer wishes, the German market leader has been focusing its attention on minimizing noise by optimizing chassis design and fan control.

The company also focused on improving performance while still being environmentally responsible. The new Intel i955X chipset allows the extension of storage capacity beyond the traditional 4 GB threshold. When used with Extended Memory 64 Technology, the CELSIUS M440 is the first single-processor workstation to offer genuine 64-bit support. Based on Fujitsu Siemens Computers Green technology, the lead content in the mainboards has been reduced from 12 grams to 1 gram. The printed circuit boards are halogen-free, and the housing contains no environmentally damaging flame retardants.

The CELSIUS M440 was developed for all established workstation applications, including CAD and CAE, visualization and virtual reality, financial services and analyses, digital content creation, and software development. It is, of course, also certified for all popular applications used in these areas.

Technical highlights:
- New housing reduces operating noise to 25 dB.
