Lifting mobile productivity to new heights

A notebook and tablet PC in one: the new featherweight LIFEBOOK P1510 from Fujitsu Siemens Computers

Munich/Germany, September 27, 2005 —Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT manufacturer is raising the standard for mobile productivity with its new ultra-light convertible notebook. The LIFEBOOK P1510 is the lightest convertible notebook available offering both full notebook and tablet PC functionality. With a weight of only 1 kg it is the perfect mobile workmate for the traveling executive or field salesperson. In addition the tablet features are particularly suited for vertical markets like healthcare and insurance. The LIFEBOOK P1510 convertible, featuring a long battery life and state-of-the-art 8.9-inch touchscreen display, is available as of November for prices starting at € 2499 (e.g. in Germany, including VAT).

In addition Fujitsu Siemens Computers also paid special attention to other aspects vital to buyers of mobile devices, such as flexibility, design, performance and security. The LIFEBOOK P1510 features Bluetooth technology and Intel® Centrino™ technology, which ensures ample computing power even under peak loads and a long battery life, extendable up to max. 8.5 hours with an optional six-cell battery (depending on product model, applications etc.). Passive digitizer technology means any stylus can be used to operate the Windows XP Tablet PC Edition, while the integrated fingerprint sensor delivers additional convenience and security.

“Since identifying mobility as one of our company’s strategic pillars in 2001, we have continuously worked to expand our product portfolio and improve our mobility features. With the LIFEBOOK P1510, we are launching a product that unites cutting-edge technology with a stylish design,” said Andreas Thimmel, Vice President Business Clients. “The LIFEBOOK P1510 is currently the world’s lightest convertible offering full mobile functionality. We see great sales opportunities for it with managers and regular business travelers as well as in vertical markets.”

User scenarios:

Meetings without paper or barriers
Say goodbye to walls of open notebooks and the old-fashioned flip chart: notes can now be taken on the slate and sketches presented via beamer. And since the notes can be saved directly into the system there’s no need to type them up afterwards.

Vertical markets
Typical application areas include healthcare, banking and insurance, retail, outside sales and market research. The light weight (1 kg) makes work easier and more enjoyable: when in slate mode, the stylus is all that is needed to run applications. At the hospital, for example, patient data can be entered on the tablet and then processed in notebook mode, since the LIFEBOOK P1510 doubles as a powerful office PC.
