CELSIUS R540 and CELSIUS R640 now with
Intel Quad-Core processors

Augsburg/Germany, November 14, 2006 —At the VISIT IT conference Fujitsu Siemens
Computers, the leading European IT provider, is announcing
the availability of its CELSIUS
R540 and CELSIUS R640 workstations with latest Intel Quadcore
processors. The systems are
already very successful due to their improved chassis and
cooling technology, which reduces
the sound emission significantly.
CELSIUS R540 – a particularly quiet compact dual-processor
workstation
The CELSIUS R540 is equipped with the latest Quad-Core
Intel® Xeon® processors of the 5300 series or with the
Dual Core Intel Xeon processors of the 5100 series, together with
the
complete range of high-speed PCI Express 2D and 3D OpenGL
graphics cards. In spite of its compact chassis, it provides space
for up to four hard disks. It can also be configured with up to 16
GB of memory. In addition, a new cooling concept makes the CELSIUS
R540 extremely
quiet. The compact CELSIUS R540 workstation has been
developed for applications requiring particularly high performance,
for instance software development, 3D modeling, CAD and financial
applications such as forecasting. It can also be integrated into
racks for cluster solutions. The CELSIUS R540 with Quad-Core is now
available for prices starting at € 2199 (e.g.
in Germany, incl. VAT).
CELSIUS R640 – a quiet dual-processor workstation ideally
suited to expansion
The CELSIUS R640 is equipped with the latest Quad-Core
Intel® Xeon® processors of the 5300 series or with the
Dual Core Intel Xeon processors of the 5100 series, together with
the
complete range of high-speed PCI Express 2D and 3D OpenGL
graphics cards. Thanks to its larger chassis, the system has room
for extra features and additional components. In addition, the new
cooling concept makes the CELSIUS R640 particularly quiet. Focused
development ensured that this new high-end CELSIUS R640 workstation
is especially suited to animation, virtual reality, visualization,
technical simulation and geosciences. This model can also be
integrated into racks. The CELSIUS R640 is now available for prices
starting at € 2399 (e.g. in Germany, incl. VAT).
