Fujitsu Siemens Computers increases operating profit
- Preliminary revenue of seven billion euros*
- ITPS turnaround
Hanover / Germany, March 14, 2007 —Today Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the leading European IT
manufacturer, announced its figures for fiscal year 2006 (April
2006 - March 2007) on the eve of the world's largest technology
fair, CeBIT. At a press conference in Hanover, President & CEO
Bernd Bischoff revealed that in the current fiscal year, the
company's revenue is expected top seven billion euros* for the
first time in the company history. Operating profit is expected to
increase to 140 million euros*. In addition, the company managed to
turn around its services arm, ITPS (IT Product Services), which has
been part of Fujitsu Siemens Computers BV Holding since April 1,
2006.
Bernd Bischoff, President & CEO of Fujitsu Siemens
Computers, said: "In a difficult and fiercely competitive
market, we have continued to systematically pursue our policy of
profitability before pure revenue. At the same time, we have
pressed ahead with the integration of ITPS, and set the
cornerstones for our company's long-term competitiveness. Our
efforts have provided good results. In the second half of this
fiscal year we expect to significantly increase our operating
profit, and I'm particularly pleased that we have managed to
make our services business profitable for the start of the new
fiscal year."
The company's operating profit has been impacted by the
expected restructuring costs of 55 million euros*, bringing the
pre-tax profit to 85 million euros*. The cost savings and
restructuring program that Fujitsu Siemens Computers began in the
first half of this fiscal year will secure profitable growth for
the company, and is already having a noticeable effect.
The new line-up in Sales, which has brought greater focus on
the customer, has also recorded successes. The integration of the
services arm means that Fujitsu Siemens Computers becomes a true
infrastructure solutions provider, offering its customers the full
range of services, from consulting and design through
implementation to after-sales service, for its core businesses of
infrastructure and mobility solutions. Examples from the expanded
range of services include managed mobility and managed storage,
where clear savings in total cost of ownership can be achieved for
the customer. Also, bringing Sales, Professional Services and
Consulting together under the umbrella of "Value Sales"
ensures that customers can get virtualization and automation
solutions for the Dynamic Data Center (DDC) from a single source.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers showed how it plans to
systematically increase its innovation activities in its strategic
pillars: Mobility, Dynamic Data Center and Services. In 2006, the
Fujitsu Siemens Computers Innovation Award went to Auto Immune
Systems, a new service model for automatic error handling and
preventive maintenance. The company will also continue to focus on
important areas like "Green IT" and the development of
power-saving IT systems. To showcase this point: a Fujitsu Siemens
Computers ESPRIMO Green PC with Power Management already only uses
half the electricity of an ordinary PC.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers is anticipating increasing demand
in 2007, despite a continuing strong competitive market. "We
feel well-equipped to meet the challenges of the market, and expect
that this will lead to profitable revenue growth in the coming
fiscal year," concluded Bernd Bischoff. "We will continue
to concentrate on our strategic areas of mobility, DDC and services
" increasing our customer focus, our ability to innovate, as
well as strengthening the partnerships we have forged in these
areas."
