Fujitsu Siemens Computers increases efficiency and reliability for data centers with “SolutionContract CentricStor”
Fujitsu Siemens Computers announces “SolutionContract CentricStor,” its new service offering for data center storage management
October 12, 2007 —
Fujitsu Siemens Computers announces “SolutionContract CentricStor,” its new service offering for data center storage management. As a result of the new packaged service, Virtual Tape Appliance (VTA) CentricStor customers now can order Maintenance & Support Services directly from the manufacturer to ensure that the VTA meets the agreed service levels at 100%. The services are defined according to ITIL standards (IT Infrastructure Library).
The new service offering includes a variety of proactive and reactive components designed to keep the system stable and secure. Proactive components include Remote Monitoring, regular System Health Checks, Live Monitoring and Patch Management. These components detect critical system conditions immediately to prevent failures. For example, AutoCall uses Teleservice to warn about errors at an early stage. Reactive services include error diagnostics, forwarding and monitoring all faults for components used in the overall solution and managing those from third parties. A Technical Account Manager serves as a central contact and is available to the customer for the entire support phase.
The error elimination process takes place within defined response times. Following this process, the functions are verified and if spare parts are needed, a best-in-class logistics process gets the parts on-site as quickly as possible. The service package offers additional services such as Disaster Recovery and data backup software and process analysis.
The SolutionContract supports the entire data backup solution, including all CentricStor VTA components, and third party storage products in the data backup solution such as Tape Libraries. For third party contracts, Fujitsu Siemens Computers can act as a single point of contact. If an error occurs in an "outside" system, Fujitsu Siemens Computers identifies the problem, integrates the responsible service provider and monitors the call.
“CentricStor is a sensitive and important part of the IT infrastructure,” explains Richard Schlauri, Executive Vice President of Services at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “Now our customers can operate their data backup solution with CentricStor even more reliably and efficiently with these new, standardized Maintenance & Support Services. If needed, we can run comprehensive analyses to optimize data storage and its infrastructure.” He added, “It’s becoming increasingly difficult to maintain the efficiency, compliance and availability of storage infrastructures. Because of this, we have designed our solution so that our customers can get all the products and appropriate services they need from one source. We can also offer Managed CentricStor to interested customers. The process is seamless and secure. As our motto says: ‘We make sure!’”
Additional SolutionContracts are available for Dynamic Datacenter infrastructures. The SolutionContracts offer Service Level Agreements which are specifically designed to meet a wide range of business requirements – including continuous operations 24 hours a day, seven days a week, for optimal reaction and recovery times. The package also offers optional services such as Change Management, performance analyses or implementation of configuration changes. The new Maintenance & Support Services for CentricStor are available immediately.
