At
CeBIT 2008, Fujitsu Siemens Computers will present innovative public sector solutions and provide an overview of its complete product offering, in the Public Sector Parc in Hall 9. The company will also focus on Green IT and a variety of solutions that help to make life easier for authorities and the general public. Visitors to the trade fair will witness electronic signatures, an innovative mobile assistant for doctors and staff working in hospitals, as well as future-oriented IT infrastructures for geo-data. Consumers visiting CeBIT will see Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ "green highlights”, including a prototype of a zero-watt monitor that does not even use power in standby mode and a new generation of SCALEO Green PCs.
Fujitsu Siemens Computers will celebrate the 10th anniversary of the "Deutschland PC" in an open-air presentation. The Intel stand in Pavilion 33 will feature the LIFEBOOK P1620 - the latest and smallest Notebook model for professional use. In addition to the energy-efficient ESPRIMO proGREEN selection PC, there will be other innovations on display from the PRIMERGY industrials standard servers world, including the energy-saving TX120 Tower, the reliable RX300 S4 rack server, the Blade Server BX600 and the "Dynamic Data Center in a Box,” the BladeFrame BF400 System.
Green IT
For Fujitsu Siemens Computers, "Green IT" is not merely hype. Joseph Reger, CTO at Fujitsu Siemens Computers, emphasized the importance of Green IT in a pre-CEBIT discussion, explaining how his company is driving Green IT forward so that customers can enjoy real and measurable economic benefits while positively impacting the environment. Fujitsu Siemens Computers will also demonstrate at CeBIT how using dynamic data center solutions based on PRIMERGY Blade Servers can reduce dramatically the number of computers constantly in use, thus reducing energy consumption.
Zero-watt display
Even if they are not being used, connected PC monitors consume 1 to 6 watts of electricity in standby mode depending on the type. That is no longer the case with the new "zero-watt display" from Fujitsu Siemens Computers. It saves customers’ money and helps protect the environment. Based on an electricity price of 20 cents per kilowatt hour, a normal display costs 10 Euros annually when it’s not even on. These costs can be avoided by home-users, as well as by companies and organizations with hundreds of monitors in operation. The prototype of the zero-watt, 20 inch monitor has a switch in the power supply unit that is controlled by the PC. Thus, the device is completely disconnected from the main power source when in power-save mode until it is switched on again via a computer command that works both for analog as well as for digital monitor outputs. The first models are expected to be available in stores this summer.
SCALEO Green PC – The next generation of a young but successful model
A new generation of SCALEO Green PCs is available now as a result of positive reviews from customers and trade professionals. The Green PC is specially designed for consumers and uses an “environmentally green” motherboard that contains extremely low levels of pollutants.
The SCALEO Green PC is manufactured in Augsburg by Fujitsu Siemens Computers. The company developed software that controls the SCALEO Green PC's power consumption so efficiently that it uses 27
percent less energy compared to other PCs. The computer’s noise levels also have been reduced. The SCALEO Green PC is Energy Star 4.0 compliant, and also has been awarded the "Nordic Swan” and "Blue Angel” environmental labels.
The new SCALEO Green PC Generation has a Pentium® Dual Core E2140 processor from Intel®,
2 GB working memory and Windows Vista® Home Premium operating system. The new SCALEO Green PC will be available in April 2008, starting at 499 Euros.
The Deutschland 10 PC
Equipped with quad-core processor and excellent graphics, the Deutschland PC 10 will be in stores as of CeBIT. Fujitsu Siemens Computers is planning to present the new system in the open-air area of the trade fair, along with other products for private consumers. Like its predecessor, the Deutschland PC 10 is being manufactured in Sömmerda (Thüringen). The processor comes from AMD Dresden.
Electronic signatures
As electronic communication is now so pervasive between the general public, business and public authorities, electronic signatures now have the same legal significance as handwritten signatures. Fujitsu Siemens Computers has developed SignTific™ - a framework architecture that facilitates the integration of electronic signatures within the business processes used by public administration authorities. Together with their partner OPENLiMiT® Fujitsu Siemens Computers is presenting the first signature solution which meets the state's e-card strategy and the Technical Guideline 03-112 issued by the Federal Office for Information Security (BSI). Based on the new standard, a range of new applications can be implemented which helps both administration staff and the general public alike. These include: legal signatures for emails, 100% paperless tax returns, secure log-ins for web applications, proof of identity and age on the Internet, the submission of electronic prescriptions to an online pharmacist, and using electronic applications for social benefits. The eCard strategy also takes into account issued signature cards.
The ESPRIMO MA: a flexible solution for the healthcare community
The digital revolution in healthcare has led to hospital IT infrastructures becoming business-critical services that are required to provide optimal levels of support at all times. Therefore, the ESPRIMO MA (mobile assistant) has been developed as a mobile companion to assist doctors, nurses and paramedics in their daily duties.
The ESPRIMO MA is based on Tablet PC technology and has been developed by Fujitsu Siemens Computers in intensive collaboration with Intel. The device was developed in collaboration with the specialist Competence Center Mobility and Applications in Bremen, Germany, which conducted exhaustive field research among medical and healthcare professionals to determine the optimal functionality and capabilities that were expected of a mobile device. Based on these findings, ESPRIMO MA prototypes were developed and tested.
The development work by the Competence Center Mobility and Applications represents a successful public-private partnership between Fujitsu Siemens Computers and the City of Bremen. The ESPRIMO MA meets healthcare professionals’ combined needs for a mobile information system used daily within hospital and healthcare environments. It also fits seamlessly into the overall Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ Services model for healthcare, since it helps to make these workplaces more flexible.
Innovations for geographic data infrastructures
Geo-data is used increasingly as an important source of information for decisions makers in the business and public sectors. The focus of service platforms is to integrate this data and corresponding services into administration and business processes. Future-oriented IT architectures and systems are prerequisites for universal and constantly available infrastructure services. Processing Area Network Technology is the basic infrastructure for the central operation of geo-data solutions from Fujitsu Siemens Computers partners. Managing comprehensive large quantities of geo-data, such as aerial photographs, are examples of live solutions that integrate geo-data in administration and business processes.
LIFEBOOK P1620: the new ultra-light Convertible Business Notebook
Fujitsu Siemens Computers is presenting the LIFEBOOK P1620 at CeBIT - a new one-kilogram combination model based on the Notebook and Tablet PC. The model has a PC card slot and an integrated UMTS wireless option as well. The screen resolution for the 8.9" display in the new model has been increased to 1280x786. The LIFEBOOK P1620 is for sale beginning at CeBIT, starting at 2,500 Euros plus sales tax.
ESPRIMO proGREEN selection
The ESPRIMO proGREEN selection has a special black housing and sets new standards for energy consumption. Equipped with the latest Intel® vPro™ processor technology with an 80 percent effective power supply, it minimizes power consumption. Because it meets the requirements of Energy Star® 4.0, these systems are particularly suitable for customers looking to reduce the Total Cost of Ownership. Developed in Germany and taking into consideration important customer requirements, they combine energy efficiency and manageability and are also very quiet.
Dynamic IT infrastructures
CentricStor 4.0 from Fujitsu Siemens Computers is the new generation virtual magnetic tape storage solution. Quick, flexible and economic solutions for data backup are thus even easier. Low-priced and high-availability models with the innovative X10sure solution are being presented by Fujitsu Siemens Computers in real-world customer scenarios.
PRIMERGY – An efficient and especially reliable industrial standard server
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has recently completely upgraded its PRIMERGY server line. The latest PRIMERGY RX300 S4 generation has 500 percent increased performance as compared to the dual-core S2 generation of the SPECjbb2005 Java Server Benchmark. Another exceptional feature is that it can be expanded with up to 12x 2.5” hard disks and 48GB RAM. As a result, it is the ideal server for virtualization workloads.
The ultra-compact PRIMERGY Tower Server TX120 combines best-in-class energy and space-saving technologies with a powerful Intel Xeon UP dual-core processor. The TX120 is the most energy-saving, quiet and compact standard server in the world so it is ideally suited for branch officeswhere there is no separate server room.
The PRIMERGY Blade Ecosystem BX600 is designed for modern data center solutions. The system provides a reliable and innovative platform, ensuring high performance and connectivity. This Blade Server provides superior performance and maximum redundancy by using only minimal space, energy and cabling. For these reasons, it is an ideal platform for consolidation and virtualization projects.
The PRIMERGY BladeFrame systems, which are also presented at CeBIT, offer a service-oriented infrastructure that integrates computing, network and resource management. BladeFrame creates a flexible server pool consisting of CPU and memory resources. I/O, network and storage are divided and allocated virtually via the PAN Manager Software (PAN = Processor Area Network).
