Time to Dump Your Old Server: Fujitsu Siemens Computers spells it out for SMBs

Best-ever deals on entry-level PRIMERGY servers part of eye-catching sales promotion


Munich, February 14, 2008 —

Dump your old server: this is the tagline of the new marketing campaign from Fujitsu Siemens Computers, aimed at providing small and medium-size businesses with a trouble-free path to the latest, more energy-efficient server technology. The campaign addresses end users as well as resellers.

 

Featuring special promotions on entry-level industry standard PRIMERGY servers from Fujitsu Siemens Computers, the “Dump Your Old Server!” campaign will run throughout February, March and April 2008 , highlighting the savings that businesses can enjoy from making a switch away from old, inefficient, cumbersome and slow servers.

 

Server models featured in the campaign are the PRIMERGY tower models TX120 and TX200 as well as the rack-mount RX300. All three feature breakthrough levels of efficiency in terms of computing power, reduced energy consumption and physical size.

 

“For many small and medium-size businesses, their old server is the elephant in the room,” says Jens-Peter Seick, Senior Vice President, Enterprise Server Business at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “Despite being noisy, slow, taking up too much space, and using far more power than today’s models, many companies are still betting their business on this older, less-reliable technology. With our ‘Dump Your Old Server’ campaign we’re highlighting the fact that it’s time to change and we are offering some great deals as an incentive.”

 

Just like all servers in the PRIMERGY range, the entry-level TX120 features state-of-the-art multi-core processors and modern 2.5-inch hard drives. Near-silent in operation, the TX120 uses a maximum of just 163W of power, and is easily capable of meeting the server needs of small businesses. Its bigger brother, the TX200, delivers screaming performance so that a single box can meet departmental server needs, while the RX300 is a rack-mount workhorse, offering hot-plug technology, which means greater system online time, since core components such as power supplies, cooling fans and hard drives can be replaced without interrupting or powering down the server.

 

The marketing campaign, launched this week in six countries across the EMEA region, features three appealing visual images in an advertising and telemarketing campaign:

 

·         Old server swallows up energy. Stop it!

·         Old server: Low performance, high consumption. Wake it up!

·         Old server is wasting your money. Stop it!

 

In addition to print advertisements in targeted publications, online marketing plays a large role in the campaign. As well as country-specific websites, such as www.dumpyouroldserver.co.uk , Fujitsu Siemens Computers is planning a banner online advertising campaign that will deliver 16 million-plus targeted advertising impressions, plus keyword search engine marketing and a telemarketing campaign.

 

Strong support for resellers

 

Channel partners play a key role in helping Fujitsu Siemens Computers to execute this campaign, says Fujitsu Siemens Computers Vice President of Channel Business, Selma Kveim. “This campaign involves close cooperation with resellers. In addition to placing banner advertisements on channel portals and updating our Channel Partner Portal with focus pages on this promotion, we are also supporting resellers in maximizing their marketing activities offering them the opportunity to build their own campaigns based on the marketing material we have prepared for them."

 

Kveim adds: “As a special bonus for our channel partners, we are launching the PRIMERGY F1 challenge in connection with the Dump Your Old Server campaign. This provides participating resellers with a chance to win a VIP trip to the Monaco Grand Prix.”
