Fujitsu Siemens Computers announces new and comprehensive Server Management
New version of PRIMERGY ServerView Suite incorporates Integration, Analysis, Deployment and Operation to manage virtual and physical resources
Munich, March 07, 2008 —
Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ new Server Management Suite is now compatible with the centralized management of virtualized and physical servers and I/O resources in the data center. The new structure extends the functionally of the PRIMERGY ServerView Suite, making it easier and more economical to manage servers and storage systems. The new simplified structure includes Deployment, Analysis, Integration and Operation management topics. The new PRIMERGY ServerView Suite is available as of 1st of April 2008.
"The growing use of virtualized server environments increases the complexity of the entire IT infrastructure," says
Jens-Peter Seick, Senior Vice President of Enterprise Server Business EMEA at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “Our updated PRIMERGY ServerView Management Suite helps users manage the multilayer structure more easily and inexpensively because it centralizes and standardizes control and monitoring of virtual and physical resources such as servers, storage and networks."
PRIMERGY ServerView Suite users will continue to benefit from optimized system availability and workload, automated deployment, and new analysis functions such as extended power management for increased energy efficiency in the data center. In addition, there are comprehensive options to integrate with Enterprise management systems or other providers’ management systems.
Efficient operation of dynamic infrastructure solutions
The PRIMERGY ServerView Suite offers a functional extension with its FlexFrame Infrastructure and PRIMERGY BX Blade Servers or PRIMERGY BladeFrame and ServerView PAN Manager Software. This system makes it easy to select the installation, control and monitoring for new dynamic, service-oriented IT infrastructures.
The ServerView PAN Manger is responsible for the management of virtualized and physical servers and making available a pool of computing and network resources. This reduces manual, time-consuming administrative tasks and increases the system administration productivity. The result is increased workload utilization and a significant reduction in total costs of ownership (TCO).
Power Management increases energy efficiency and reduces service costs
Extended Power Management has been integrated in the ServerView Suite to ensure the holistic, energy-efficient use of the PRIMERGY systems. In addition to the existing power control functions, power monitoring can be used to monitor and record the power consumption of several servers in
a defined period. The new power consumption control function limits server power usage. In addition, the new customer self-service concept for PRIMERGY servers means that users can autonomously maintain certain components and thus reduce service costs. The concept is integrated in the centralized management suite and makes it easier for the user to identify faulty server component and replace them by ordering them online.
Ease of deployment, extended integration
ServerView Deployment Manager and ServerView Installation Manager are sophisticated and proven deployment tools within the Management Suite. They enable simple installation of operating systems, current drivers and images on individual systems and in data center landscapes. The ServerView Suite’s integrated ServerView Storage Manager provides higher productivity and easier administration for storage systems to monitor and administer third-party storage systems as well as the FibreCAT storage solutions from Fujitsu Siemens Computers with the standardized SMI-S interface.
The extended ServerView Suite integrates with the widespread Enterprise solutions from HP, Tivoli, BMC or CA and offers comprehensive functions for the integration of the PRIMERGY servers into the Microsoft System Center, HP Systems Insight Manager or Nagios. This compatibility is supported by pre-configured integration process tools, which greatly facilitate integration into the aforesaid management solutions.
The newly structured ServerView Suite combines simple and complex management tools in an offer that is also economically attractive. Fujitsu Siemens Computers provides free-of-charge to its customers the generic management functions for installation, monitoring and administration, remote management and power management as well the majority of the PRIMERGY integration packages.
