Fujitsu Siemens Computers expands its services portfolio in the storage segment

Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Quantum sign a service agreement on Scalar tape libraries

Munich, April 07, 2008 —

Fujitsu Siemens Computers is further extending its services portfolio: effective immediately, the company will begin offering customers servicing for Quantum Scalar i500, Scalar i2000 and Scalar 10k tape libraries. Customers purchasing these tape libraries from Fujitsu Siemens Computers or from the company’s channel partners can now obtain equipment installation and maintenance services from the same source. Using the tape libraries along with Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ servers or CentricStor virtual tape solutions will save time and money because customers will only need a single point of contact for their entire solution. A recently signed Authorized Service Partner (ASP) agreement with Quantum has enabled Fujitsu Siemens Computers to make this addition to its services portfolio.

“The service partner agreement not only strengthens our long and successful relationship with Quantum, it marks a valuable addition to our portfolio of services,” says Dr. Helmut Beck, Vice President Storage, Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “Many customers who use our CentricStor virtual tape solutions also have Scalar tape libraries from Quantum. We can now offer them a single, central point of contact for their entire solution, making CentricStor even more efficient and convenient for users.”

Scalar tape libraries deliver high performance and reliability

Scalar tape libraries, with LTO or Magstar tape drives, are designed to provide enterprises with fast, simple, high-availability data archiving capabilities. The tape libraries are exceptionally scalable and modular for easy expansion. The Scalar i500 provides capacity on demand and can be expanded from 26 to 404 LTO cartridges, while the SAN-ready Scalar i2000 can support up to 3,429, and the Scalar 10k up to 9,582 LTO cartridges. The iPlatform architecture and the integrated management software give users complete and comprehensive control of backup processes. For more information, visit www.quantum.com.
