Nagios integration boosts open source server management for PRIMERGY
Free plug-in for PRIMERGY ServerView downloadable from NagiosExchange
Munich, August 21, 2008 —
PRIMERGY servers from Fujitsu Siemens Computers can now be managed and monitored with the Nagios open source software suite, thanks to the introduction of a new freely-downloadable plug-in developed by NETWAYS. Fujitsu Siemens Computers is also partnering with NETWAYS – a provider of
open source monitoring and system managementconsulting and tools – to offer customer support in integrating PRIMERGY servers into Nagios-monitored environments.
Nagios is an increasingly popular open source host, service and network monitoring and management program. In addition to developing the Nagios plug-in for PRIMERGY, NETWAYS hosts the NagiosExchange website
www.nagiosexchange.org
, providing freely-downloadable plug-ins.
Nagios, designed to run on Linux, monitors a wide range of system variables in an enterprise network including network services, server host resources and environmental factors such as system temperature. Furthermore, Nagios is licensed under the terms of the GNU General Public License Version 2 as published by the Free Software Foundation.
With the Nagios plug-in for PRIMERGY enterprise server customers are assured that Nagios is able to provide monitoring of PRIMERGY servers.
“The introduction of a PRIMERGY ServerView plug-in offers a seamless interface for Nagios, giving customers full control over their PRIMERGY server environment,” says Jens-Peter Seick, Vice-President Enterprise Server Business at Fujitsu Siemens Computers. “In addition to the Nagios plug-in, Fujitsu Siemens Computers is also able to offer Nagios integration support to customers who are moving to the open source monitoring platform.”
