CentricStor VT now provides certified disaster recovery for EMC Centera platform

Certification with StorFirst software from Seven10 delivers comprehensive, secure solution addressing compliance and corporate governance requirements

Munich, August 27, 2008 —

Certified disaster recovery for enterprise and commercial customers relying on EMC Centera active data archiving systems is introduced today by Fujitsu Siemens Computers and Seven Ten Storage Software: Certification of CentricStor VT (Virtual Tape) from Fujitsu Siemens Computers with StorFirst software from Seven10, a leader in virtualization and data protection of regulatory-compliant enterprise archives, provides a guaranteed data protection solution for the popular EMC Centera Content Addressable Storage (CAS) product line.

The C entera platform from Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ long-term partner EMC is used primarily for fixed-content active data archiving by corporations that need to address compliance and corporate governance requirements. Through the bi-directional certification of Seven10’s Windows-based StorFirst software with Fujitsu Siemens Computers’ CentricStor virtual tape solution, Seven10 will add CentricStor Virtual Tape support to the latest release of its StorFirst suite of software with immediate availability.

Certified interoperability provides a proven disaster recovery solution for Centera. CentricStorVT and StorFirst provide an effective way to manage and retain Centera data across different tiers of backup, recovery, and archive hardware. CentricStor is the first virtual tape solution that provides intelligent data protection by storing enterprise data autonomously on disk or on tape.

“The combination of Seven10 software with our CentricStor virtual tape environment insures that we meet stringent, internal data protection mandates for our multi-terabyte Centera archive,” says Jochen Brünger at Continentale Insurance. “We now have the unique ability to keep millions upon millions of data objects stored confidently on self-healing, replicated Centera systems which are further protected and securely vaulted through the reliability and flexibility of our CentricStor with its integrated physical back-end tape system.”

Helmut Beck, Vice President Storage at Fujitsu Siemens Computers comments: “Thanks to Seven10 certification, data protection with our CentricStor virtual tape solution is extended to cover EMC Centera environments. Using CentricStorVT to protect fixed content provides Centera customers with a data protection solution that makes sure enterprise archives remain regulatory-compliant, no matter what happens.”

Oliver Biewald, Vice President of Strategic Sales at Seven10 explains: “We have focused a great deal of energy in growing our presence outside the United States. The completion of certification with Fujitsu Siemens Computers underlines our global commitment to our customers. Through StorFirst and CentricStorVT we are providing answers for organizations that are looking to build reliable, cost-effective data archives based on open storage platforms.”
