The second generation SCALEO Home Server from Fujitsu Siemens Computers comes with an energy-conscious hard disk
Augsburg, VISIT, November 12, 2008 —
Fujitsu Siemens Computers has launched its second generation SCALEO Home Server with environmentally friendly hard disks. The maximum four Caviar® Green™ SATA hard disks from Western Digital, each with a terabyte storage capacity, use up to 40 per cent less energy than their predecessors. The energy conscious home server user can now let his Home Server run for several hours a day without increasing his electricity bill. The use of Green Power™ technology also ensures that the home media center is quieter and cooler than its predecessors. Its lean and elegant appearance makes it less conspicuous and it fits nicely into the home environment. Both the SCALEO Home Server 2205, preinstalled with 2 X 1 TB, and the SCALEO Home Server 2105, preinstalled with 2 x 500 GB, are now available at specialist retailers.
Due to the increase in home digitization, the Home Server is becoming more popular as a media center in the networked home - one year after its launch. It's so easy to save photos, films, music and all other types of files centrally and securely and to load and run them from anywhere, including the Internet. Its built-in security mechanisms make sure that systems with several hard disks do not lose any data even if one of the drives should fail. The data, the data backup and the recovery for all the systems in the network can be managed via an easy-to-use interface. In addition to the energy-saving hard disks the SCALEO Home Server also has a special power management function which saves energy yet ensures that your data is always available.
