IFA 2009: Fujitsu presents notebooks with multiple touch functions – a delicate touch indeed
The first Windows 7 Touch technology supported models in the LIFEBOOK series allow intuitive data input
Munich/Berlin, September 04, 2009 —
At this year's IFA in Berlin, Fujitsu presents two convertible notebooks with multiple touch functions for the first time. The two models LIFEBOOK T4310 and T4410 support the Windows 7 Touch technology and thus allow intuitive data input – either with a multifunctional pen or finger movement – and handwriting recognition. With the rotatable display the notebook turns into a flexible tablet PC. An additional battery helps to continue working, when an electricity socket is not accessible. The two notebook models have different designs and are planned to be available in EMEA in the fourth quarter of this year. The LIFEBOOK T4410 also offers a TPM module and a port replicator.
Intuitive data processing
With the Dual Digitizer technology integrated in the widescreen display (30.7 cm / 12.1 inch) data can directly be entered with the multifunctional pen or by touching the screen. Thanks to these multiple touch functions, users can edit content and control videos by touching and moving them or using the pen. Users can profit from the multiple touch technology by sliding their fingers across the screen when zooming images, enlarging or making windows smaller, scrolling or skipping through pages. The highly developed handwriting recognition enables users to insert and digitize text directly with the pen. The pre-installed operating system Windows 7 supports these functions. With the display on a special hinge that turns into either direction, both LIFEBOOK models can not only be used as a Notebook, but also as a flexible tablet PC.
"Our new Fujitsu LIFEBOOK models create a completely new feeling when working on them", explained Dieter Heiss, Senior Director Mobiles & Accessories at Fujitsu Technology Solutions. "The display with multiple touch functionality opens a new world to intuitive data processing. Whereas singletouch technology was basically just substituting a mouse, our systems supporting multiple touch clearly offer advanced functions. It is now possible to conduct complex actions with few finger movements."
Performance when travelling
The latest generation of Intel© Core™ 2 Duo processors and the mobile Chipset Intel GM45 ensure high Notebook performance. The Fujitsu LIFEBOOKs T4310 and T4410 can be extended with modules. The modular bay is used to integrate an additional battery and a second hard drive. Thus, users no longer have to rely on an electricity socket in close distance and can have more storage space for their data. The LED display and the Ambient Light Sensor with its automatically adjustable brightness levels ensure better contrast and readability conditions for outdoors. Only weighing two kilograms, both LIFEBOOKs are ideal for mobile use. Integrated 3G/UMTS as well as WLAN and Bluetooth provide optimal connectivity options.
Data security whatever the environment
Security, especially for mobile devices, is a decisive factor. When they are lost or stolen, non-authorized persons could access your data. Fingerprint authentication prevents non-authorized access to the system. The Computrace® function can locate a system and delete its data remotely or based on a timer. The microcontroller TPM (Trusted Platform Module) stores important passwords and digital certificates and protects the data against software-based attacks as well as physical theft.
