Fujitsu Announces Managed Workplace Services for Windows 7
Fujitsu’s Managed Workplace offers a safe and flexible migration to the Windows 7 operating system
Munich, November 18, 2009 -
Fujitsu today announces the release of its new Managed Workplace services offering based on the Windows 7 operating system. Fujitsu’s Managed Workplace has been re-invigorated on the new Windows 7 operating system, offering advanced technologies and cost savings opportunities. As a component of Fujitsu’s Dynamic Infrastructures portfolio, Managed Workplace is designed to meet today’s business challenges through a flexible and secure infrastructure.
Fujitsu’s Managed Workplace provides complete services for the efficient operation of client infrastructures. This includes the planning, implementation and roll-out of the infrastructures and the management of the hardware and software concerned. Ongoing maintenance as well as support and financing are also part of the offering
Managed Workplace supplements the entire service life of desktops and laptops- from the consulting phase and procurement to the operation and subsequent disposal phases- in accordance with environmental standards and the erasure of company-critical data. This is in keeping with Fujitsu’s corporate environmental philosophy and also frees organizations from daily routine tasks so that they can instead focus on their core business. As a result, Managed Workplace reduces complexity, risk and cost and increases end user productivity and flexibility.
André Kiehne, Vice President Managed Infrastructure Services at Fujitsu Technology Solution says: “Customers need a solid service partner to support migration activities and operations of a new client. Fujitsu’s hardware and services, in conjunction with Microsoft’s new Windows 7 operating system, enable the holistic deployment of a highly productive and cost-effective workplace environment. Our Managed Workplace offering integrates all components and is the ideal choice for customers who want efficient services and high end-user satisfaction.”
Many companies are eager to take advantage of the cost-savings and technological benefits of Windows 7, but may be wary of the risks and additional IT services and office infrastructure management demands that can be associated with converting to a new operating system. Fujitsu’s Managed Workplace addresses companies’ concerns about converting to a new system, providing an integrated approach to a safe and easy migration to Windows 7.
The modular structure of Fujitsu’s offering enables companies to select the tasks they wish to keep in-house and those where they wish to benefit from the experience, innovations and economies of scale offered by Fujitsu. This helps companies reap the benefits of the new technology while maximizing their cost-relevant potential. The services are based on customer-specific service level agreements and a “price-per-seat” model that enables cost transparency.
“More than ever, companies need to reduce IT costs while increasing efficiency,” said Nick Parker, general manager of marketing for the original equipment manufacturer division at Microsoft Corp. “Windows 7 is a platform that delivers high value and manageability to businesses, as well as a simpler, more reliable experience for end users. Fujitsu’s Managed Workplace services are well positioned to help companies successfully migrate to Windows 7.”
Windows 7 provides a number of significant improvements, including faster performance and fewer interruptions from system notifications. The new operating system has a streamlined user interface (UI) and improved taskbar and search options. In addition, Windows 7 provides improved device management and multi-touch support, which is an important advantage for Fujitsu’s dual-digitizer tablet PCs.
